Hi. I'm Chris.

I'm based in New Zealand and this whole collection started with a memory. As a kid I used to look at these covers and want one for myself. I never had the money to buy them or the space to keep them safe. That stuck with me.

Eventually I started collecting for real. It's been going for more than fifteen years now. Some pieces came from right here in New Zealand. Others I found and bought directly from South Africa itself.

None of this had ever been properly catalogued before. That's a big part of why this site exists. I wanted a real record of what I actually own and a place where the whole collection finally sits together in one spot.

There's something bigger here too. Some of these covers touch on periods of South African history that were genuinely difficult. The homeland states. Apartheid-era issues. I didn't want to hide any of that or smooth it over. Future generations deserve a place where they can look at these covers and actually understand the story behind them. Even the uncomfortable parts. Especially those.

One thing worth saying plainly: this site exists to showcase the collection. It's not a shop. Nothing here is for sale.
